What does it mean to be a Berliner?
Is it enough to live in Berlin? Do you have to have lived here for decades, even for generations? What does one have to do to deserve the title from John F. Kennedy’s famous speech in West Berlin on June 26, 1963?
The exhibition presents a collection of the works of Frank R. Hoffmann that capture the essence of Berlin. Each portrait tells its own story and invites the viewer to see the city from a new perspective. Those seen through Hoffmann’s lens look back at us. They ask questions. They challenge us. A Socratic endeavor.
And in the end, the question returns: Are you a Berliner too? Find out for yourself.
Look Berlin in the eye—through the eyes of its inhabitants.
